The Light of Memory
The Light of Memory
Natural dyes, cotton, canvas, cast iron weavings
42” x 36”
2022

I've recently been making a series of works that draw attention to the the relationship between natural dyeing and foundry casting. Thinking about cloth as an impermanent monument and reflecting on the way memory shifts, fades, and changes forms.

Handwoven cotton thread, poly-cord textile, cast in iron, white patina.
Cotton bed sheet dyed with ferns, mint, onion skins, oak tannin and iron, sewn onto canvas and mounted on wood.
